As we approach the May Bank Holiday and what should be a busy weekend for tourism businesses across the country, I wish to reassure you that the full resources of Fáilte Ireland are being directed to support you through these very difficult times.
We are continuing to speak directly with tourism businesses and industry bodies about the supports that are needed at this time of crisis for the sector so we can provide practical and relevant advice and guidance on our COVID-19 Business Supports Hub.
An area of particular concern for tourism businesses across the country is managing their insurance policies during COVID-19. In response, Fáilte Ireland has worked with an independent insurance advisor to create a guide to support businesses to manage their insurance policies. This guide will help businesses check if they are eligible to make a claim, secure a refund or seek a reduction in payments.
We are currently working with Ministers Ross and Griffin, Departmental officials, Tourism Ireland and sectoral bodies on the next phase of our response to this crisis which is recovery.
As part of this work, Fáilte Ireland is creating a set of operational guidelines to help businesses as they reopen at the appropriate time. These guidelines will be published in the coming weeks and will provide advice on various systems that can be adopted that will help instil public confidence and reboot business while adhering to Government, WHO and HSE public health directives.
The anxiety and worry that COVID-19 is causing is immense and it is hugely important that we look after our mental health at this time. Employee wellbeing supports, including free counselling and financial advice, are now available on our COVID-19 Business Supports Hub to help tourism businesses and their employees, as well as those who have unfortunately lost their jobs, through this difficult period.
